Gloria Bermudez and Mirella Bedoya – two remarkable women that suffered from the war against Pablo Escobar – are nowadays revolutionizing the way young people in rural areas around Medellín, Colombia, are inspired to live their lives. Pablo Escobar used to give a gun and a motorcycle to the youth and made them believe that they were somebody; these two women are giving them a book and a reason to dream, setting them free.
The behind-the-scenes narratives of Gloria, describing how she turned the library of her university into an infirmary to attend the victims of the war against Pablo Escobar, is perhaps one of the most transformational moments in my life. I simply had to pause the rec button and take a deep breath before I could record again.
